MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Alabama’s House of Representatives passed House Bill 527 Tuesday, which would bring an overtime tax cut and grocery tax holiday to Alabamians.
The bill would provide some tax relief on overtime compensation and provide a 60-day grocery tax holiday. Rep James Lomax (R-Huntsville) was the bill’s sponsor.
Each taxable year, Alabamians would be able to deduct up to $1,000 in qualified overtime pay from their taxable income. This would be in effect for tax years beginning on and after Jan. 1, 2026 and end Dec. 31, 2028…
