Man charged in fatal Blue Jay Road stabbing

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) —A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the deadly March 18 stabbing in Effingham County, officials announced Tuesday.

WSAV previously reported that two men were injured in the violent altercation in the 4400 block of Blue Jay Road on March 18. Both men were taken to a Savannah hospital with stab wounds, where 28-year-old Chapin Michael Mcree ultimately died from his injuries.

The other man, 48-year-old James Phillip Barla, was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) Public Information Officer Brian Bailey reported.

Barla was then taken to the Effingham County Jail and charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony…
