Tyree Jones marks final day as Jackson police chief, thanks city and department leaders

JACKSON – Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said Tuesday was his final day serving as chief of the Jackson Police Department, bringing to a close a seven-month stretch in which he held both leadership roles.

In a statement, Jones said,

“Today is my final day serving as Chief of Police for the Jackson Police Department.” He added, “Leading this department during a critical transition period has been an honor, and I am grateful to Mayor John Horhn for his trust, confidence, and support over the past seven months.”
