JFD Citizens’ Fire Academy readies residents for emergencies

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson residents stepped into the world of emergency response through a hands-on training experiences at the Jackson Fire Department’s (JFD) Citizens’ Fire Academy.

“We believe that our community should be well versed in fire safety, because that as a whole helps us as a community reduce the risk. It helps to lower accidents and incidents with regard to fires,” said Deputy Fire Chief Cleotha Sanders, Jr.

He said families should have the right safety measures in place before an emergency happens.

“Making sure that you have a home fire escape plan, making sure that you have working smoke alarms, making sure that you have fire extinguishers,” Sanders explained…
