Man arrested after allegedly firing at police officer, triggering manhunt in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A man was taken into custody Tuesday, hours after police said he fired a shot at an officer Monday night in south St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, a security officer flagged down a police officer working secondary at about 10 p.m. for a man who was throwing rocks at vehicles on South Kingshighway in the city’s Tower Grove South neighborhood.

Police said when the officer approached the man in the parking lot of The Neighborhood Car Wash, 3233 South Kingshighway Blvd., he ran away into heavy brush toward the railroad tracks and fired a shot at the officer. The officer was not injured and did not return fire…
