FAIRFAX, Va. — A Baltimore woman is one of a group of people who used sleight of hand to steal jewelry from several women in Virginia last month, police say.
The stealing spree began around 1:30 at a shopping center in Springfield. When a women went to return a shopping cart in the 6900 block of Hechinger Drive, a white SUV pulled up next to her. Police said a woman inside the car lured the other woman over to the car and began talking about jewelry. During the conversation, the woman inside the car put a ring on her finger. The two women hugged, and while doing so, the woman inside the car took off the other woman’s necklace. The driver then drove off, leaving the woman realizing what had just happened.
