$975,000 in Community Funding to Greenfield Fire Company

Erie County U.S. Representative Mike Kelly presented $975,000 in community funding to the Greenfield Twp. Vol. Fire Company. The funding will assist in critical safety projects that will benefit the communities in northeastern Erie County.

The project aims to construct a new station for the company in Greenfield Township. The original station is unable to accommodate the size of modern fire engines. The location of the station has caused issues in traffic safety as engines have to navigate a 50 mile per hour highway.

“Pennsylvania has the third-most volunteer or mostly volunteer fire departments in the United States. This funding is critical to make sure the department has the equipment needed to serve our communities,” said Rep. Kelly. “I believe it’s important for everyone to remember this isn’t the government’s money. These are your tax dollars at work in your community.”…
