Crews bring fire at Walker automotive supplier under control

WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — Crews responded to a two-alarm fire at an automotive supplier in Walker early Wednesday morning.

The call came in around 12:25 a.m., reporting a fire at Challenge Manufacturing, according to the Kent County Dispatch Authority. The facility is located at 3200 Fruit Ridge Ave. NW north of I-96.

By around 1:20 a.m., the fire had been placed under control, the Walker Fire Department wrote in a social media post.

Dispatchers didn’t know whether anyone was inside the building when the fire broke out…
