Controversial Sable Pipeline in Santa Barbara Restarts at Over 50,000 Barrels Per Day, Output Set To Exceed 60,000

Sable Offshore Corp. has crossed a major milestone in its long-running and controversial effort to restart offshore oil operations off California’s coast.

The Houston-based oil and gas company announced it initiated oil sales from the Santa Ynez Pipeline System on March 29, 2026. This marks the first time crude has been commercially sold through the pipeline since operations were halted in May 2015 following the Refugio oil spill.

The pipelines were filled from Las Flores Canyon to Pentland Station at a rate in excess of 50,000 barrels of oil per day, Sable said in the statement. At the Santa Ynez Unit, Platform Harmony is producing around 22,000 gross barrels of oil per day…
