Northeast Wisconsin health experts warn of illnesses circulating ahead of Easter gatherings

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – As families prepare to gather for Easter, health officials in Brown County say there is a mix of illnesses circulating in the community.

Respiratory illnesses such as the flu and COVID-19 are beginning to decline, but other viruses remain a concern. Officials say norovirus, which causes gastrointestinal illness, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are currently among the most prevalent.

“With more people gathering indoors, especially in confined spaces, it becomes easier for germs to spread,” Brown County nurse Julie Schoenrock said.

Health experts emphasize that simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of illness during holiday gatherings. Frequent handwashing, especially before and after eating, and disinfecting surfaces are key steps.
