Wichita, Sedgwick County discuss fire consolidation, property tax concerns

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Leaders from the city of Wichita and Sedgwick County met to discuss fire department consolidation and concerns over a property tax relief bill during a joint meeting on Tuesday.

The governing bodies hold the meetings, called en bancs, a few times a year to address important community issues.

Property tax bill raises bond concerns

A bill that would allow taxpayers to petition if property valuation increases go above 3% was a key topic. The cap would affect the city and county’s contracts with municipal bonds.
