Sedgwick County hosting public forum to discuss potential data centers, regulations

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Sedgwick County held a town hall on Tuesday evening to further discuss the potential for data center projects within the county.

The meeting at the Sedgwick County extension office near 21st and Ridge Road came weeks after the county commission voted to extend a moratorium on all data center applications until June 11.

The county said it needed more time to research the best practices, since there are currently no formal rules in the county’s zoning code for data centers. This raises questions on what it could bring to the county and what it could mean for surrounding communities…
