East Portland has far fewer grocery stores than the rest of the city — and is slated to lose another one

An east Portland supermarket that has struggled with shoplifting, vandalism and other crime will close later this year, potentially furthering the area’s longstanding lack of ample food access.

The Grocery Outlet located at 10721 N.E. Sandy Blvd. in the Parkrose neighborhood is slated to shutter by mid-summer, according to city leaders and the store’s property manager.
