Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms Arrests in Salem

SALEM, Ore. — A routine early-morning traffic stop on March 31, 2026, resulted in the arrest of a Salem man and a juvenile after officers discovered multiple loaded firearms inside a vehicle.

At approximately 2:47 a.m., officers stopped a black Mercedes driven by 19-year-old Brayan Cervantes Arias of Salem. During the stop, police learned Cervantes Arias had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Polk County.

As officers continued their investigation, they located a loaded handgun in the driver’s area of the vehicle. A second loaded handgun was found on a 16-year-old male passenger, also from Salem. Additionally, officers recovered a high-capacity magazine from inside the vehicle…
