Thunderstorms possible for NYC area ahead of nearly 30-degree temperature plunge

Wednesday brings us another day of 70-plus-degree weather and near-record highs. Enjoy. On Thursday, we’ll be around 50.

Fortunately, that chill won’t last long. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to overspread the New York City area late Wednesday afternoon into the evening. Thunder is possible in and around the area. Some spots, mainly in southern New Jersey, could see isolated pockets of severe storms.

After the heavy rain moves out, much cooler, occasionally damp, weather settles in for Thursday.
