Over the years, I’d probably driven past Fuji Japanese Grill on Kingston Pike about eleventy-gazillion times. I knew it was there, but for no particular reason, I never felt compelled to add it to my list. But last week was my breaking point. I announced to The Grub Spouse, “We’re going to Fuji!” and we swung by for an early-ish dinner.
I was surprised by the interior aesthetics — modern, clean, with hints of Asian influences. It looked as if perhaps it might have recently undergone a complete remodel. In any case, an employee greeted us just inside and pointed us toward the counter, where customers place their orders.
It didn’t take us long to figure out what we wanted, given that the menu is not overwhelming in scope. They have miso soup as well as more than a dozen familiar Asian-cuisine appetizers like spring rolls, crab rangoon and fried calamari. I was intrigued by an item called Cheese Muncher but wound up ordering the unfortunately named octopus balls ($7.49)…
