Pastor John Foxx Unveils Modern, Accurate and Readable Bible

PLANT CITY, FL — A Florida-based pastor and scholar, Dr. John Patrick Foxx, is gaining attention in Christian circles for developing a new English Bible translation aimed at balancing accuracy, completeness, and readability. Known as the Doc Foxx Translation (DFT), the project represents more than a decade of scholarly and pastoral work.

What Is the Doc Foxx Translation (DFT)?

The Doc Foxx Translation (DFT) is a modern English Bible translation that began in 2011, born out of Dr. Foxx’s concern about what he describes as inconsistencies in widely used Bible texts.

Unlike many contemporary translations, the DFT is built on Byzantine manuscript traditions, which Dr. Foxx considers closer to the original preserved texts of Scripture. His goal was to create a version that is both theologically faithful and accessible to modern readers.

Key Features of the DFT Bible

  • Byzantine Source Texts
  • The DFT relies on Byzantine manuscripts rather than Alexandrian sources, which are commonly used in modern translations.
  • Restoration of the Divine Name (YHWH)
  • The translation restores the Holy Name “YHWH” throughout the Old Testament, a feature often replaced with “LORD” in other versions.
  • Complete Representation of Jesus Messiah
  • Special emphasis is placed on ensuring that titles and references to Jesus Christ are fully preserved without omission.
  • Modern, Readable English
  • The DFT uses clear, flowing language, making it suitable for both study and daily reading.
  • Reader-Friendly Enhancements
  • Includes section headings, standardized weights and measures, and formatting designed to improve comprehension.
