HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Peak energy use hours will be changing to the summertime schedule for Horry Electric and Santee Cooper customers starting Wednesday.
From November 1 through March 31, peak hours are from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Starting Wednesday until Halloween, the peak hours will shift to 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“The change is designed to help customers manage their energy use during the high-demand afternoon hours when air conditioning systems drive system peaks as they use more electricity to keep homes cool,” Santee Cooper said. “Enough small changes by enough customers will reduce our system peaks and benefit the entire system.”…
