Single-use plastic water bottles no longer used at Nashville Zoo as site aims to avoid 22,000 pounds of plastic waste

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Zoo announced a sustainability effort on Monday that it says will reduce plastic waste by more than 1 metric ton a year.

Single-use plastic bottles have officially been eradicated from all on-site beverage locations, the zoo said.

“By eliminating single-use water bottles in the park, the Zoo is projected to eradicate approximately 1.1 million single-use plastic water bottles over the next 10 years, representing roughly 10 metric tons (about 22,000 pounds) of plastic waste avoided,” the zoo said…
