Norfolk man convicted of malicious wounding, attempted robbery in 2025 attack

NORFOLK, Va. — A Norfolk man was convicted Monday of malicious wounding and several related charges after prosecutors said he beat another man with a handgun during a dispute last year, according to the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

Keith Lamont Sears, 43, was found guilty of malicious wounding, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, attempted robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to prosecutors, the February 2025 encounter began after a woman, who had been romantically involved with both Sears and the victim, told Sears he was not the father of her baby.
