Vinton man arrested in connection to Roanoke hit-and-run death of moped operator

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A 59-year-old Vinton man was arrested on Wednesday morning in connection to the hit-and-run death of a moped operator in Roanoke, according to the Roanoke Police Department.

Using Flock technology, Brian Angelo Campbell was located and arrested on the morning of April 1, 2026; Campbell was charged with felony hit-and-run and reckless drive, officers said.

On Tuesday at 11:52 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Orange Ave. NE for a hit-and-run involving a Ford F-150 in which police allege the driver struck a person on a moped before fleeing the scene.

Upon arrival, the moped driver was located and found to have sustained serious injuries; officers say the 59-year-old victim died…
