STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For Staten Island native Tiana Camara, the values she learned growing up in New York have stayed with her far beyond the borough.
Now serving as a petty officer 2nd class in the United States Navy, Camara — a 2022 graduate of Curtis High School — said her upbringing on Staten Island continues to shape her approach to service.
“I took a hustler’s mindset from New York and applied it to my naval career,” said Camara. “I learned early that nothing in life is handed to you. That is why I continue to push myself and constantly strive for more.”…
