New Jackson police chief wants to prioritize safety, tech upgrades

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – April 1, 2026, marked the start for Jackson’s new police chief, Dr. RaShall Brackney.

Many residents are excited for change to come to the capital city. Safety is a major concern for them, and they hope to feel more comfortable, even just walking through the city.

“Don’t want to feel like I have to walk around looking behind my shoulder, or having to carry firearms in our vehicles to feel safe,” said Piper McGraw, a resident.
