When Matthew Rodriguez looked into buying a home in Lafayette Parish, he had no idea he’d be able to triple the size of his property in just a year.
Rodriguez lives at the site of the failed Gideon Grove neighborhood near Youngsville, where developers planned for a sprawling, profitable subdivision, but only ended up building three houses before high-tailing out of town.
He recently bought a home built after the neighborhood went belly up and moved in early 2025. He was interested in the neighboring lot as well and learned that it was “adjudicated” in 2021…
