The Sept. 14 attack

The stabbing unfolded around 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2025, when officers found two men suffering from stab wounds in the 2100 block of South Liberty Street, according to law enforcement accounts given to local media. Fox 8 Live reported that the man who died was identified as 44-year-old Jerome Carter. Local station WDSU said investigators worked the scene, collected evidence and asked the public to come forward with any tips as the case developed.
