Child dead, another injured in shooting at high school in Missouri

FERGUSON, Mo. — A 14-year-old boy was killed and another juvenile was critically injured in a shooting Tuesday evening at the STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkeley in Ferguson.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. in the school’s parking lot during a track meet involving 20 participating schools.

According to Ferguson Fire Chief John Hampton, both victims were taken to a hospital for surgery where one of the boys was pronounced dead. The other injured child is expected to survive, officials said.
