Gun, Knife Recovered During Suitland High School Fight; 18-Year-Old Student Identified And Charged As Adult

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating after a student was in possession of a gun at Suitland High School on Thursday. The student is 18-year-old De’Ante Abbott of District Heights.

The preliminary investigation indicates Abbott got into a fight with a second male student in a hallway Thursday morning. When the assigned School Resource Officer (SRO) arrived to the fight location, he observed Abbott attempt to hand his laptop bag to another student.

The SRO recovered a handgun in the bag. The second student involved in the fight with Abbott is also facing charges. The sophomore pulled out a knife during the fight with Abbott. The student suffered a minor self-inflicted knife wound to his hand. Abbott was not injured by the knife…
