In 2027, Academy’s HOSA-Future Health Professionals club will be taking over the school Health Office, replacing the school nursing staff. This will provide students with hands-on experience in the healthcare field without having to go through all of the hurdles of health career certification and schooling. Essentially, this program will allow student health and wellbeing to be by the students, for the students. HOSA members will be learning on the job the skills needed to correctly treat sick or injured students without prior education. “The best way to learn is through making mistakes,” says one HOSA member, “and I don’t think that pesky adults should get in the way of the youth taking control of our own health.” Ms. Johnson, HOSA Advisor, says, “Over the past couple of years, I have seen HOSA students conquer hypothetical health scenarios in the competitive roleplay arena. I have full confidence in their abilities because, I mean, I’m sure that real life can’t be any different…..
