Starbucks announced new incentives for its baristas aimed at enhancing both customer service and sales performance. Starting this July, employees at individual locations can earn up to $1,200 annually in bonuses if their stores meet specific sales and service goals.
In addition to the bonus program, Starbucks will transition to weekly pay, providing workers with greater financial flexibility. The company also plans to update its tipping system within the mobile app and at register payments to simplify the process for customers, potentially increasing baristas’ tips by 5% to 8%.
These changes come as part of CEO Brian Niccol’s “Back to Starbucks” strategy, which has contributed to a recent 4% rise in same-store sales after several quarters of stagnation. The initiative includes new menu offerings and a refreshed barista dress code designed to improve the overall customer experience.
Starbucks emphasized that these rewards are a recognition of the important role partners play in the company’s ongoing transformation and commitment to delivering enhanced service in its coffeehouses.
