Budget outlook takes shape
Most of the discussion centered on the proposed budget for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
Town Financial Director Tonya Dozier presented preliminary figures based on the best available data, since Buncombe County has not yet completed its property revaluation process. She estimated property tax revenue would increase by approximately $220,000 under a revenue-neutral rate of roughly 27 cents per $100 of assessed value.
Sales tax revenue is projected to increase by about $63,000, while fire tax revenue could rise by an estimated $337,000 under a unified fire tax district — another county proposal that has not yet been approved…
