There is a new terror in town and it’s coming from local writer and director Robert Fox, who will be premiering his latest short film The Nightmare Reflection at 1020 Collective on Saturday, Apr. 4, along with some scary good bands. The idea for Nightmare Reflection comes from the director’s love of the 1984 Horror movie A Nightmare on Elm Street, “I wanted to try my hand at offering something a little new to the franchise while maintaining the spirit of the original. During grad school I wrote this short version to help showcase my filmmaking style with the intention of landing a pitch meeting for the feature with the Craven estate someday,” states Fox, who has been working on a feature script since 2019.
The film may only be just over thirteen minutes long but there are some big plans for its future, “We plan on spending the rest of this year and perhaps sometime next year submitting the film to festivals along the east coast. We have people in Erie, Atlanta, and Florida who worked on it, so there are a lot of festivals we can travel to, between all of us. We just completed our first round of submissions,” Fox shares. Along with The Nightmare Reflection, a zany comedy about relationships called Full Sail University, The Dunk Tank will also be shown. This film was writer and director Robert Fox’s thesis film from his graduate program.
