Money mules from Alabama enter guilty pleas

Two people from Alabama accused of being “money mules” as part of a scamming operation appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday and pled guilty to theft by receiving charges.

Twenty-five-year-old Josiah Kamal Smith who lists an address in Tuscaloosa and 33-year-old Brittany Norwood of Northport were both sentenced to three years-probation.

At one point, the Little Rock law firm representing the pair had filed a motion to suppress evidence in the case alleging the police search of Smith violated his constitutional rights under the 4th and 14th amendments.
