Pender County conducts a property value reassessment for the first time in 7 years

PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – New property revaluation notices are arriving in mailboxes across Pender County, and many homeowners could see significant jumps in their assessed values.

County Manager Colby Sawyer says the revaluation is required by state law and is designed to reset values to fair market value as of Jan. 1, 2026.

“North Carolina General Statute requires that we reappraise at least once every eight years to reset property tax value to fair market value,” Sawyer said. “We’ve not had a reappraisal done in seven years, so we have seven years of natural growth to account for.”…
