BOSTON (WWLP) – Advocates of all ages want to “Raise the Age” in Massachusetts–that means adult criminal offenders under age 21 would be processed through the juvenile justice system.
Supporters of this change say it would help reduce recidivism, pointing to a 51% reduction in juvenile crime rates after the jurisdiction age was raised to 17 in 2013.
Because young people’s brains are still actively developing until age 25, advocates say that with the right support, offenders can change for the better…
