UI Young Americans for Freedom, IC communist group debate

The Young Americans for Freedom, or YAF, University of Iowa chapter and Iowa City’s Revolutionary Communists of America came together at the IMU Richey Ballroom on April 1 to discuss issues such as long-term effects on climate change, failures of past communist attempts such as the Soviet Union and Maoist China, successes under U.S. open market system, capitalism’s effect on increased wealth gap across the globe, and lack of protection for working class individuals due to capitalism’s profit-focused approach.

The event, sponsored by Bridge Iowa, brought over 70 attendees, consisting mostly of UI students.
