Wanted man shot by Wichita police officer, killed in neighborhood near Pawnee and Webb Road

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Update: The Wichita Police Department confirmed that a man, wanted in connection with a child sex crimes investigation, died from his injuries after being shot by a WPD officer in a southeast Wichita neighborhood.

The WPD said the 45-year-old man “produced a firearm” after being approached by police officers. One officer fired multiple shots, fatally wounding the man, police confirmed. He died at the scene in the 8900 block of East Cherry Creek Drive, near Pawnee and Webb Road.
