The Alexandria School Board is on the hunt for a new superintendent following the resignation of Melanie Kay-Wyatt, Ed.D. on March 26. She will officially leave the position on Oct. 1.
The announcement comes as a surprise to many and is the latest high-profile leadership change within Alexandria City Public Schools. This also marks the end of another short superintendent tenure in ACPS.
“This decision did not come easily. Leading this school division has been among the most profound honors of my professional life, one I have given myself to fully, and without reservation, for years,” Kay-Wyatt wrote in a statement to staff and families on March 27. “But the time has come to turn that same devotion toward my family.”…
