Death penalty waived for man accused of killing McMurphy’s security guard

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Prosecutors on Thursday announced they will not seek death against a man accused of gunning down a security guard he believed sexually assaulted a family member.

Deputy District Attorney Leanne Wilder added she filed a motion for a gag order in the case, a hearing on which Judge John S. Somers set for April 8.
