Melrose attorney embezzled over $600,000 from clients, DA says

A Massachusetts attorney is charged with embezzling over $600,000 from two of his legal clients, according to prosecutors.

Henry Rappa, 57, of Melrose, is charged with two counts of embezzlement, two counts of larceny over $1,200 and with the unauthorized practice of law, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Thursday. He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Cambridge District Court.

Ryan said the first client entrusted Rappa with $660,000, to be held in a client trust account. Prosecutors allege that he did not safeguard the funds, but misused them and, when requested, failed to return the money…
