IMPD highlights progress against gun violence and organized crime
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is highlighting major progress in the fight against gun and organized crime throughout central Indiana.
The department says during the first quarter of this year, the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force arrested 60 people, including six with federal charges.
They also seized 61 illegal guns and seven machine gun conversion devices, along with more than 50 pounds of drugs, including five pounds of fentanyl.
“The Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) is a partnership of law enforcement officers and analysts from several central Indiana law enforcement agencies that was started in 2021. In cooperation with state, local, and federal partners, the ICGTF collaborates to address violent crime through a comprehensive strategy, using innovative approaches to locate suspects and evidence related to violent crimes and illegal possession of firearms,” IMPD said in an X post…
