Chattanooga is growing…but can young adults still afford to live here?
This is a fast-growing city. New apartments are being built, restaurants are opening, and more people are moving here every year. On the surface, this seems like a good thing. A growing city sounds wonderful when you think of more jobs, more opportunities, and more social opportunities to get involved with. But, for many college students and young adults, especially those graduating from UTC, Chattanooga is starting to feel harder and harder to afford.
Many students, myself included, come to UTC planning to stay in Chattanooga after graduation. After all, the city does have a lot to offer for young adults. It is big enough to have job opportunities and social entertainment, but small enough to still feel like a home. However, when students also like me start looking for apartments, we quickly realize that living here is not as cheap as we expected…
