South Durham Scoop as First Chicken Salad Chick Set To Nest Near Southpoint

Durham’s about to get its own scoop of Chicken Salad Chick. The fast-casual chain is planning its first Bull City location in the Southpoint shopping district, targeting a spring opening. The restaurant is slated for the second quarter of 2026 and will span roughly 3,100 square feet at the Renaissance Center, with a menu built around the chain’s signature scoop-based chicken salads and combo meals.

Where It Will Be

The new Chicken Salad Chick is listed in leasing materials for the Renaissance Center at 6901 Fayetteville Road, in a roughly 3,103-square-foot space, according to InvenTrust Properties. The center sits next to The Streets at Southpoint and is anchored by Nordstrom Rack, Best Buy and REI, putting the restaurant in the heart of one of South Durham’s busiest retail hubs.

When It Might Open

The chain is aiming to open the Durham spot by Q2 2026, according to The News & Observer. That report also notes that sandwich meals at Chicken Salad Chick start around $11, while scoop meals run about $10. There is no exact opening date yet, and the company has not announced a hiring timeline for the Southpoint-area location, so fans will have to wait a bit longer before circling a day on the calendar.

What To Expect On The Menu

Chicken Salad Chick advertises “more than a dozen tasty flavors” of made-from-scratch chicken salad on its website. The menu typically centers on scoop-style chicken salads paired with signature sandwiches, fresh side dishes and simple desserts. Other nearby locations also offer dine-in, pickup and delivery service, a mix that has helped drive the brand’s growth in the fast-casual space.

A Growing Presence In North Carolina

The Durham restaurant is part of a broader push across North Carolina. Chicken Salad Chick opened a Smithfield location in 2025, according to PR Newswire, and The News & Observer reports the chain already operates Triangle outposts in Raleigh and Cary.

Leasing materials from InvenTrust Properties also play up the Renaissance Center’s proximity to Research Triangle Park and Apple’s new campus, a combo that leasing agents say helps boost daytime traffic for restaurants and retailers…
