Police suspect children in fatal Erie fire were home alone: search warrant

As the investigation into the fire in the City of Erie that claimed the lives of two children and left a baby in critical condition continues, investigators suspect they may have been home alone when the fire broke out.

According to the search warrant filed through Magisterial District Justice Bizzarro’s office, no adults were found when firefighters arrived at the house fire in the 500 block of East 26th Street on March 29.

The warrant also states the fire was called in by a witness who also told the dispatcher they could see fire on the back side of the multi-residential building and the children in the windows when they called 911 at 4:24 p.m…
