Red Devils’ slide continues with fourth straight loss

RED SPRINGS — The Red Springs Red Devils softball team couldn’t change its fortune on Wednesday night, as it fell 11-0, stretching its losing streak to four games. It was a night where the Red Devils’ bats went silent and South Columbus was in a zone.

“You have to be prepared every day,” Red Springs coach Donnie Carter said. “We played that team Monday and lost by one in extra innings. We just have to be consistent in our preparation.”

South Columbus (5-7, 3-1 Southeastern) wasted no time finding a groove in this contest, taking a 7-0 lead into the third inning. They increased the lead to 8-0 before the fifth inning. Finally, they scored two runs in the top of the fifth and Red Springs failed to respond, resulting in an early finish, due to the 10-run rule after five innings…
