Alachua man arrested for firing a pistol under the influence of alcohol near Turkey Creek

ALACHUA, Fla. – Riley Jay Kamden Abney, 21, was arrested late last night for using a gun under the influence of alcohol after numerous Turkey Creek residents reported hearing gunshots.

The gunshots were heard as early as 7 p.m. on April 1 and continued throughout the evening, with multiple social media posts asking about the source of the sounds. An Alachua Police Department officer reported that at about 10:38 p.m., he saw Abney shooting his Sig Sauer pistol at his home in the 10800 block of NW 59th Terrace, just outside the Turkey Creek neighborhood.
