Decatur police officer placed on administrative duty following traffic stop incident

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – The Decatur Police Department announced Tuesday that Officer Malachi Compton has been placed on administrative duties.

According to Decatur police, Compton conducted a traffic stop on March 25 for a moving violation. Police said the driver got out of the car, was ordered to return, and refused to comply with Compton’s commands.

Police said a “response to resistance” event occurred, which may have resulted in potential injuries to the driver…
