CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Paula Hernandez was walking her dachshund, Patrick, through her Cedar Rapids neighborhood on March 18 when she noticed a neighbor’s pit bull gate was left open. Moments later, she said, the dog got loose and fatally attacked her dog.
“Patrick was like, my kid. I don’t have any two legged ones,” Hernandez said. “He was my support and my rock and he was there for me all the time.”
Paula said the pit bull lunged at Patrick and bit him in the neck. She tried to stop the attack herself, she said, but no one came to help…
