Letter | Huxley Yards an example of Madison’s housing future

Dear Editor: Thank you for the update on the two completed housing developments and the one still in the works at Huxley Yards (“553 affordable housing units set to open in Madison,” March 24).

There’s plenty of grumbling about Madison’s housing boom, about blocked views and encroachment of multistory apartments in suburban communities of single-family houses on spacious lots. Part of me, also, wants to stop the inexorable transformation of Madison from a small city to a large, densely populated one. But a larger part accepts reality and appreciates the years of planning that have gone into the city’s visionary blueprint for a sustainable future.

Madison is home to an increasingly diverse range of age, economic, social and cultural cohorts. The Huxley Yards developments recognize and accommodate this…
