New Iberia family at risk from incomplete wheelchair ramp

NEW IBERIA, LA. (KLFY) — A New Iberia family is calling for a contractor to return their money or finish a project after they said he left behind a dangerous and incomplete wheelchair ramp.

The structure was intended for 60-year-old Gary Durocher, who is wheelchair-bound and requires dialysis. Brenda Foley, Durocher’s mother-in-law, said the family paid Jay and Jay Fencing approximately $2,300 for the work. The project began in February, but Foley reported that the contractor stopped working after several visits, leaving the porch and ramp unfinished and unsafe for use.
