VERONA – A Verona Area High School senior has received what is believed to be one of the largest scholarships in the country after being awarded $400,000 from a Boys & Girls Club of Dane County donor.
Jakylah Powers was selected from more than 90 applicants for the nonprofit’s largest and most competitive scholarship. She learned she would receive the scholarship at work.
“Like, on a scale to one to ten I was like ten. I think I scared all the customers at Jersey Mikes, like, I was just screaming in the bathroom like ‘ahh, oh my gosh,'” said Powers…
